Beware of Children
Fall means that schools are in session. It is very important for drivers to be extra careful in the morning and afternoons because that is when kids are getting on and off the bus. Children are known to be unpredictable and are prone to dart mindlessly into the road. Be on the lookout for school buses and be sure to give them plenty of space when the red lights are flashing. Remember, that most states will impose major fines if a driver disregards the flashing red lights on a school bus.

Fight the Darkness
Say what you will about the modern merits of daylight savings time, but driving during the fall, especially the later parts, means more driving in the dark. A lot of new cars, trucks and SUVs are equipped with daytime running lights, so other drivers can see the vehicle. Dawn and dusk are two of the more perilous times of the day to be on the road during the fall. Not only can the light conditions be challenging, but these are also the times of the day when animals are active and are prone to be crossing the road.

‘Leaf’ it out there
After bright colors of fall start to fade, the leaves hit the ground and are eventually blown on to the road. Loose leaves mixed with autumn rainstorms can create very slippery road conditions. Drivers will want to maintain a safe speed for the conditions they face and make sure their tires have a healthy tread depth and they are properly inflated.
