Acura dials up performance for the 2021 TLX Type S
What is different about the 2021 Acura TLX Type S?
The Acura TLX already offers some of the most competitive performance scores in its corner of the automotive industry. However, that might not be enough power for some Acura of Modesto customers. Our manufacturing partner has developed another variant of the TLX family that will give drivers a very different ownership experience. So, what is different about the 2021 Acura TLX Type S? The first major difference is going to be the more powerful engine that is equipped on the Type S. Additionally, the 2021 Acura TLX Type S will have more standard features than what is found on many versions of the standard TLX platform. According to the latest available information, the 2021 TLX Type S will start to arrive at dealerships around the United States in the latter half of May 2021.
Future owners of the 2021 Acura TLX Type S will have a turbocharged 3.0-liter, V-6 engine under the hood that will be attached to a sport-tuned 10-speed automatic transmission. It will make 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The standard TLX model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that will make 272 horsepower. Additionally, the 2021 TLX Type S has a standard adaptive damper system, high-performance Brembo® four-piston front brakes as well as a choice between Pirelli all-season or summer tires.
As impressive as the performance of the 2021 TLX Type S is, its suite of technology can easily match it. The 2021 TLX Type S offers a smartphone-compatible infotainment system as standard equipment. Wireless smartphone charging, the ELS Studio 3D® audio system and Acura Navigation with 3D View are all equipped on the 2021 Acura TLX Type S as standard equipment.
